The 2023-2024 academic year has been a remarkable one for extracurricular sports at De La
Salle College, with a diverse range of teams and activities showcasing the school’s
commitment to athletic excellence and inclusivity.
For the first time, our school proudly entered teams in Rugby, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton,
Table Tennis, and Athletics for both boys and girls. This historic step not only broadened
opportunities for our female students but also marked a significant milestone in our school’s
sporting journey.
Throughout the year, close to 200 students enthusiastically represented De La Salle College
across various sports, embodying the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. We
extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the teachers who generously gave their time and
expertise to coach and support our teams, as well as the outside coaches who contributed to
our athletes’ development.
Leading our extracurricular sports efforts is our dedicated Extra Curricular Sports Coordinator,
Conail Boyd, whose leadership has been instrumental in organising training sessions,
coordinating matches, and fostering a positive sports culture within the school community.
Beyond school grounds, many of our students achieved notable success in their chosen
sports. From Table Tennis to Soccer, Cricket to Rugby, Shot Putt to Boxing, our students have
excelled in local and regional competitions, showcasing their talent, determination, and the
skills honed through their participation in De La Salle College sports programs.
Sport plays a pivotal role at De La Salle College, not just in promoting physical fitness and
athletic achievement but also in nurturing qualities such as resilience, discipline, and teamwork
that are essential for success both on and off the field. As we reflect on the achievements of
the past year, we look forward to continuing to inspire and support our students in their sporting
pursuits, fostering a culture where every student has the opportunity to thrive and excel.
