5th Year 2024
By Mr D Broderick
As we come to the end of the 2023 - 2024 academic year, I would like to congratulate all the
5th Years for making it through year one of the two-year Senior Cycle.
When we began in September, we outlined to students that we wanted to build the
foundations for them to be successful in their Leaving Certificate. We spoke about the
transition from TY into 5th Year and the standards and expectations that we expected of
them. Finding the balance of school work, study, extracurricular and hobbies is key to
success.
As the year went on, the 5th Year Pastoral Team could see real growth and maturity in the
group. We were delighted that a large number of students were involved in different clubs,
school initiatives and were active members of the school community.
At the end of the year, the students attended the school tour day as a reward for their hard
work during the year. It was fantastic to see 5th Years willing to help those around them. It
was a testament to their character.
We hope that the summer exams go as expected and that you enjoy the summer break so
that you arrive back in September, ready to make 6th Year your best one yet!
Finally, on behalf of the students and myself, I would like to thank the 5th Year Tutors Ms
O'Sullivan, Ms McDermott and Mr Kinsella) for all their hard work, support and guidance they
have given to the students.
