Student Council 2023-24
By Ms E O’Sullivan
Our De La Salle Student Council has been busy this term as always. Through our regular
meetings and continuous checking across the student body, we have kept our ears to the ground
and continue to work for the benefit of all our students.
Over the Easter holidays two of our council members attended the ISSU Annual Conference and
watched democracy in action. They came back with lots of great ideas and plans for Summer
Term in De La Salle! For Wellbeing Week we had an Open Door Drop-In Centre each lunchtime
in the Assembly Hall whereby any student was welcome to call in with any doubts/worries/
questions they felt the Student Council could help with. This was a very popular event at
Wellbeing Week and one which we hope to repeat.
The Student Council played an active role in organising Sports Day 2024 with members helping
out with the barbeque to promote our very popular Colour Run. Sports Day is always a great day
for students and staff at De La Salle, and this year our Student Council wanted to make sure that
it would be our best one yet! We have also been busy organising a Whole School Table Quiz as
we come towards the end of our academic year. Everybody loves a quiz and the Student Council
have worked to make this one as exciting as possible for all contestants with prizes and
entertainment galore!
Finally, we feel it is of the utmost importance as a school to take the time at the end of this very
successful year at De La Salle College to recognise and thank those who make it possible on a
daily basis - the management, teachers, SNA’s and staff. Thank you for all that you do - your
support, encouragement, humour and guidance make our school a safe, happy and educational
place for us each day. Enjoy the well deserved break this Summer.
