Community Tea Party 2024
By Ms M Fitzpatrick
Oodles of fine bone china, linen napkins,
candlesticks, lamps and a desire to further
involve our community in our school; what can
we do to combine all these? The answer;
have a vintage afternoon tea party for our
local residents.
We spread the word at the Parish Pastoral
Meeting and in the local schools, shops,
businesses, Men’s Shed, bridge club and
choir.
So on May 15 our amazing TY Mentors and
Kyle (1st Year), Ross, Nathan and Hayden
(3rd Year) donned their glad rags and began
their careers as waiters and concierge staff.
They did the most amazing job of welcoming a
diverse range of our local residents; it is not
only the ladies that enjoy drinking from a china
cup….our local Men’s Shed also had a lovely
time chatting, interacting with students and
enjoying the food.
Our assembly hall was decked out with linen
tablecloths, a selection of our finest china,
candles and lamps aglow in preparation for
the arrival of our guests.
Feedback from locals who attended indicated
that while the food was delicious it was the
chatting and banter with the students which
was the real highlight of the tea party.
