In recent times we have invested in more IT
support systems and resources. Programmes like
IXL, the Vocabulary Enrichment Programme, the
Accelerated Reader Programme and the O’Reilly
Maths Resource are available to students to
improve numeracy and literacy skills. The Studyclix
online resource provides students with revision
notes, exam papers, sample exam answers and
study techniques to help when revising for exams.
Our AEN Classes and Special Classes for Autistic
students have small class sizes where teachers and
SNAs design targeted programmes to meet the
variety of academic and life skill needs of the
students in their care.
Every year we ensure that all year group receive
classes and workshops on how best to organise
school work, complete homework and to develop
effective study routines. Ultimately our goal is to
empower each student to reach their academic
potential so they will leave DLSC as well rounded,
respectful young gentlemen, with a clear career
pathway, be it college, university, apprenticeships
or work.
We ask all parents and guardians to check in with
your son on a weekly basis, to ensure that
homework is completed and that they are studying
and revising for their exams. In particular, we wish
rd
th
our 3 and 6 years every success in the coming
weeks as they prepare for their State Exams. It is
time now to reduce phone, gaming and social
media time and to put in the extra hours for
revision. It is also important to remember that
balance is a key to success. A healthy diet, exercise
and regular sleep patterns are as important as the
hours of study and revision. Hard work will pay off
but a healthy mind means also having a healthy
body!
