1st year Rugby

This year's first year rugby season was without
doubt a most enjoyable and successful one.
With most of the players having never played
rugby before coming into the college the
challenge was set to get the boys ready to play.
To say the boys reached their goal would be an
understatement, They certainly took to the
          game very quickly

The team was built on the foundation of a very
strong pack of forwards. The front row of Cian
(silent but deadly) Croughan, Nicholas (I like to
talk) Comerford, Humza Ahmad (the quiet man)
and Kyle (I like to run over people) Taite struck
fear into all our opponents. Our second row of
Jack (I have to go) Delaney, Morgan (where do I
go) Wojcik and Badis (I like to tackle) Sahraoui
worked extremely well and added great power
and go forward ball to our team. The backrow
consisted of Leon (The Enforcer) Waldron who
also threw the ball in at lineouts, Patrick (the
          quiet assassin) Savage, Sebastian (teacher)
Popescu and Sean (I want to quit) Harford all ran
hard, tackled hard and put their bodies on the
          line week in week out.
The half backs on any team are vital to its
success, we were fortunate to have two fine
performers in Ross (hardcore) Cooney and Josh
O’Dwyer (who could side step you in a
phonebox) who worked excellently together and
controlled the games with great skill. Our
centres of Max Williamson and Matvey Lopalo
looked like lambs but tackled like lions. Our back
three of Younes (i have a question ) Benbehloul,
Anes (I have to train) Bouchamba , Daniel (I love
this game) Goncarovs and Issa (i want to be a
forward) Jelidi whose speed and attacking ability
          where second to none.

A big thank you to the coaches Ms Tully and Mr
          Cronin for their expert help.

Finally congratulations and well done to the
whole squad for making it such an enjoyable and
          successful one .
