2nd Year Basketball 2022/2023
One bounce at a time our 2nd years basketball team are getting better. The season's competitive
games started after Christmas and the team played against Tallaght Community School, Old Bawn
Community School and Firhouse Community College. All games were competitive and the team learnt
many lessons and skills throughout. Their final game of the season vs Woodbrook Secondary School
was an absolute cracker of a game. It was testament to all the good work that the coaches and players
had done throughout the year.
The first quarter was a close affair with both teams testing the water and very few baskets dropped.
Then the second quarter started with a peppering of score's for both teams, the game took off with
every player on fire end to end play. This continued into the 3rd quarter, possibly the best game we
ever played, with every player giving 100 percent.
The last quarter did not disappoint. This was a massive finishing point to our season and we did not
disappoint. As the time ran down we were 5 points down and through utter outstanding effort we
turned that around and won in the dying seconds by 4 points, what a game and very proud of all the
lads.

Badminton Action!
The sport of badminton has gained immense popularity in
the recent past among students at De La Salle College. The
formation of school badminton teams is a testament to the
rising popularity of the sport.
The U14, U16 and U19 badminton team are an extremely
talented and focused group of young players. They showed
great potential throughout their games and put up some
excellent performances. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their
weekly sessions after school where they trained hard to
enhance their skills and coordination on the court.
All teams played against many schools, including Blackrock,
Ard Scoil Ris, Sandford Park and Wesley College. Despite
facing stiff competition, the team put up a strong front and
won many of their games. We were narrowly defeated in the
Division 2 semi finals with our U19A team, something we will
not leave behind next year.
We look forward to next year where we will hope to work on
our skills and bring some silverware back to De La Salle
College. Well done to all involved.
