Pearse Museum
At the beginning of the new year, the boys had
the pleasure of visiting the Pearse Museum, in the
picturesque St. Enda's Park. The museum is
dedicated to the life and work of Patrick Pearse, a
prominent Irish nationalist and one of the leaders
of the Easter Rising of 1916. It houses an extensive
collection of Patrick Pearse's personal belongings
and works, including his letters, manuscripts, and
poetry. The lads got to see the beautiful St. Enda's
schoolhouse, which was founded by Patrick Pearse
in 1908 and was known for its progressive
teaching methods and emphasis on the Irish
language, drama, poetry and the arts. A fantastic
bit of local history!
Cinema Trip
As the cold winter wind and rain persisted, the
lads did not allow the gloomy weather to spoil
their fun as they took a trip to Movies@Dundrum
where they got to see the new movie Avatar: The
Way of Water. This was a fantastic day out and a
great bonding experience for the boys and the
movie dealt with strong themes of ecology,
environmentalism and the relationship between
humans and nature, linking in with our Green
Schools code.
SOAR Workshop
It's always a pleasure to welcome the SOAR
Foundation to work with our TY's on breaking
down barriers, encourage self belief and to help
them recognise the greatness that exists in all of
our young people. This workshop is always an
incredibly impactful experience for our TYs and
will no doubt act as an inspiration to all who
attended.
