International Women’s Day
By Ms S O’Donnell
This year in DLS International Women's Day has extra significance as this year is
the first year we have girls enrolled in our school.
As we commemorate International Women's Day, we not only celebrate the
achievements and contributions of women worldwide but also acknowledge the
importance of gender diversity and empowerment within our own school community.
By embracing and supporting the inclusion of girls, we reaffirm our commitment to
creating a more equitable and inclusive society.
In the spirit of appreciation, students at DLS came together to spread joy and
warmth on International Women's Day by crafting handmade flowers and heartfelt
cards to exchange with one another. With creativity and enthusiasm, they dedicated
their time to create beautiful tokens of affection and gratitude, each imbued with
personal touches and sentiments.
In workshops and classrooms adorned with colourful paper, glitter, and markers,
students poured their hearts into their creations, carefully crafting intricate flower
designs and crafting heartfelt messages of encouragement and appreciation on
their cards. Some adorned their flowers with ribbons and stickers, while others
experimented with different shapes and colours to create unique and vibrant
displays of affection.
