Green Schools
Mr A Campbell
For the past two years, the Green Schools Committee has focused on achieving
the Travel Flag.
On the 7th of March, the committee would see the culmination of their hard work in
an audit by an ‘An Taisce representative.
As part of the inspection, select members delivered presentations detailing our
work towards promoting greener travel and a greener school community.
The team showcased our efforts towards the flag since September: Updating the
Green School’s notice boards, labelling bins throughout the school, setting forward
action days and more.
The committee’s past 5 year’s work was also highlighted. Our continuous effort in
maintaining our flags and sustainability, the actions taken to achieve each flag and
a recent assessment of the Churchtown area regarding travel safety and efficacy
last year were all key in the school’s commitment towards eco-friendliness.
The result of the audit was an immense success! De La Salle has received a
personal recommendation from the auditor for the Travel Flag, as well as
commending the amount of work students and teachers have contributed towards
making De La Salle greener.
Under the new leadership of Mr Campbell and Mr Brennan, the committee will build
upon the past and Mrs Plunkett’s vision to achieve a greener Salle and encourage
us all to make an effort.
