Transition Year
Barbering Workshop
Another new addition to the TY line up
was a Hairdressing and Barbering
workshop with the wonderfully
charismatic Lizzie McGhee. She taught
our TYs, all about her extensive
experience in the industry, health and
safety, hair care and the basics of
hairdressing and barbering.
The students got to get trimming and
snipping on each other over Lizzie’s
guidance and watchful eye. Even Deputy
Principal Mr Kirwan and Mr Brennan got
the VIP treatment in the barbering chair
from future barbers Jack Doyle and Pietro
Belo. Many thanks to Lizzie for the
very enjoyable workshop, as students
loved it and learned so much.
Subject Choice Week
Our fabulous Guidance Counselor Ms
Fitzpatrick organised another highly
informative Subject Choice Week this
year for our TYs.
The students took part in a number of
engaging activities such as Subject
Teacher Seminars; 5th Year Q&A
Session, CAT4 Testing; and the school
also welcomed parents for a Subject
Choice Information night. It was a
highly important week that ensured our
students could make the most well
informed decisions for subjects as they
think ahead to Senior Cycle.
