Message from The Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians & Students
2023/2024 has been a phenomenal year for De La Salle
College as we changed status from an All Boys School to Co-
Education. We could not have been prouder of our students
last August, as the boys respectfully welcomed the girls into
our Lasallian community. The change has been seamless and
having girls on campus brings a new energy and light to the
College! They have settled in so well and are already making
their mark on DLSC. We now have girls represented on the
Student Council, Green Schools Community and Fifth Year
Mentor Team and the sports coaches are proud to report that
our girls’ football, rugby and basketball teams are thriving!
Indeed the DLSC staff were very impressed with the entire
group of First Years this year. They have been a joy to teach
and a group who lost no time embracing all that DLSC has to
offer academically, as well as getting involved in the many
extra -curricular activities on offer in the College. Well done on
a great first year and when you return in September stay
positive, enthusiastic and determined to be the best student
you can possibly be!
As the school grows in numbers we have been able to
increase the range of option subjects to include Music and
Home Economics. We were also lucky to secure funding for
the construction of a new building which includes new
classrooms and a Home Economics Kitchen which will be
ready for classes in September! I think everyone is looking
forward to tasting some of the culinary delights we hope will
emerge from the kitchen!
Normally at this time of the year the school is very quiet as the
State Exams draw to a close and our 6th Years bid farewell to
DLSC. This year however, there is the sound of chatter and
laughter in the corridors as the students from our Homerooms
gather on a daily basis with the SEN Team & SNAs to enjoy
two weeks of fun, trips and activities at our Summer
Programme. Currently we have two special classes for our
autistic students and we are planning to open a third class at
the beginning of the next academic year. Lots of work has to
happen before then to reconfigure some of the building for a
new classroom and sensory room. I know that the Summer
Camp group is looking forward to meeting and greeting the
new autistic students and their parents for some hot chocolate
and games this week.
