2nd Year 2024
Student Council
Our two Second Year reps on the Student Council this year were both great
representatives for all the Second Year students and showed great maturity and wisdom
at meetings with their fellow Council Members and the Principal and Deputy Principal
throughout the year.
Themed weeks in De La Salle College
There were many different activities this year with Second Year students being very
involved in all of them. They included Science Week, Wellbeing Week, Maths Week,
Active Week and Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Second Years also had workshops on Internet Safety, ‘Inspire Study Skills’ and took the
lead role with the Christmas Jumper Day and the Shoe Box Appeal for the Capuchin
Centre.
School Events
There were many events happening in the school this year which many Second Year
students took part in. These included the Christmas Fair, Open Day, Careers Fair,
Sports Day, De La Salle Day, The Lasallian Awards, and the End of Year Student
Awards Ceremony.
Another event that took place this year in De La Salle College was Neurodiversity Week,
in which a number of Second Years were very involved. The students in the Home Room
organised a coffee morning for all their parents and grandparents, and the focus of the
week was inclusion and acceptance of neurodiversity. This was a very inspiring week
and well done especially to Ms Gallagher and Ms Darcy and all the Second Year
students involved. Well done David, Patrick, Peter, and Adam for all their great work.
End-of-Year Trip
The Second Year Group finished the year with a great trip to Alive Outside in Co.
Wicklow. All students had a great time and enjoyed every minute of the trip.
